Severe Weather Procedures
Local authority advice for severe winter weather is to remain open except in the most extreme or exceptional of circumstances.
In the event of school closure, parents will be sent a TEXT, an alert will appear on the WEBSITE and the local RADIO station will be alerted and a broadcast will be aired.
Suffolk school closures will also appear on the Local Authority website www.suffolk.gov.uk.
If the weather deteriorates during the school day, the school will remain open except in extreme circumstances. Those living long distances away from school might wish to collect their child early if driving conditions are getting worse.
Finally, with legislation on unauthorised absences, we will need an absence note for any child unable to come to school because of exceptionally severe weather conditions which are unusual to this area of the UK. Where no note is forthcoming, any such absence will be recorded as unauthorised.
